Reflecting on choreography and performance
Performing arts are booming and we love it! In March, the imagetanz Festival at the brut theatre in Vienna presents a variety of current takes on choreography and performance. Five premieres by local artists and two international guest performances which center around this year's theme of "reflections" are complemented by a diverse outreach programme. On twelve occasions the audience is invited to join artists in studio visits, workshops, talks and parties.
Over the years the theatre venue brut has build a good reputation for itself in the field of performing arts. This year's programme adapts timeless classics for the here and now, reflects on high-technology and digital realms and both their utopian and their dystopian potentials.
Our recommendations for the festival:
Where can I get signal? The dancer Mirjam Sögner deals with physicality in digital realms, electromagnetic fields and signals.
Internet addicts. Together with a group of young adults, choreographers Magdalena Chowaniec and Valerie Oberleithner reflect on the topic of online addiction.
