Fashion Made-To-Measure
Wilfried Mayer, graduate of the University of Applied Arts Vienna and former finalist at the prestigious Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival in France, combines fashion traditions with radical details.
Designer Wilfried Mayer creates made-to-measure fashion for women and men that meets the quality standards of classic handcraft: from the cut and material to traditional workmanship.
“The practical value of the products also emerges from their symbolic charge, which reflects a construction of personality whose self-image is rooted in a distinction to marketing strategy perspectives."
"My work evolves on a surface, which is oriented upon the ideal of human achievement – beyond every form of standardization",...
...says Mayer, an intellectual of the Viennese fashion scene and once a philosophy student. After graduating from studies in fashion at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2004 he initially worked for a year as a designer of men’s shoes for Bally in Milan. In the spring of 2005 he was a finalist at the Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival in France. That autumn he founded his label Wilfried Mayer – or short: \/\/\ – in Vienna.
Inherent to his designs is a functionalism in the spirit of modernism. Exemplary works are his radically cut smoking jackets, pants, and shirts, which thereby attain a completely new context.
